I had a dream 5 years ago that Gram made our family perform her funeral while she was still alive to make sure it was done just as she wanted it to be. I woke up freaked out and then I just laughed it really wasn’t that far out there. I’m actually surprised she didn’t make us do it. She had a feisty spirit that no one could deny.
We as her grandchildren each meant so much to her, as she did to us. She had a tremendous impact on all of our lives. In fact anyone who came in contact with her she impacted. Good or bad you knew who Bessie was. You never guessed what she was thinking she always let you know. She had a huge heart and a huge spirit. One in which couldn’t be repeated in just one soul. We all carry apart of her in us. Cresta and I are the nurses compassionate and love to take care of others. Ally the teacher, with her enthusiasm to make a child’s future brighter. Kari, the aspiring pilot, with Grams adventurous spirit. And Gina the mom, in which raising her family and taking care of her husband is the most important thing.
Gram had a part in raising all of us, weather it was taking the boys to watch pee wee Herman, taking the girls on our school shopping trips. Playing uno or reading us stories she had an individual relationship with each one of us. I have no regrets, no words I didn’t say. Thank you gram for all you taught me about the magic of the simplicity of life. To love your family and make sure we loved each other. To love a husband make sure he’s fed a good meal and has a clean home to come home to. To have one good childhood friend that you made time to each lunch with almost weekly. To love the Lord and to make time for him, everyday. To serve others without asking for something in return. To make your self known to the world. We are all honored to have been loved by you; I will miss you being a part of mine and my children’s life. I miss your friendship and love already; you were truly a GRAND Mother.
